LSU placekicker Drew Alleman, a 2011 semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award presented to the nation’s top placekicker, is one of 30 players around the country to be named to the 2012 watch list for the honor, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced earlier today.
Alleman was named a Lou Groza Star of the Week twice last season. His four field goals helped LSU beat Mississippi State 19-6 in Week 3, and his three field goals–including the game winner in overtime–lifted LSU over Alabama, 9-6.
Alleman made 16 of 18 field goals a year ago, including his last 10, and earned honorable mention All-America recognition from Sports Illustrated. Fourth in the conference with 110 points–the fourth most in school single season history–he was also named to the All-SEC Second Team.
The senior from Lafayette enters his final season as the most accurate kicker in Tiger history with a field goal percentage of .889.
